Hamden police cruiser collides with suspect vehicle on Route 15

HAMDEN, Conn. (WTNH) — A Hamden Police Officer was involved in a motor vehicle crash Monday when the officer’s cruiser and a suspect’s vehicle collided on the northbound side of Route 15.

A suspect failed to stop his car after Hamden Police attempted to conduct a traffic stop, leading police to give chase onto Route 15 North at exit 61.

During the course of the chase, a Hamden officer discharged his gun at the suspect. The suspect was not injured.

The suspect vehicle was brought to a stop and the driver attempted to flee on foot before he was caught by police and taken into custody.

The Connecticut State Police Central District Major Crime Squad has responded to the scene to lead the investigation into the discharging of the officers weapon.
