New Haven- Labor Day means fun in the sun

NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH) — Beach goers are soaking up the last days of summer at Lighthouse Point Park. Clem DeLucia said, “I wish the summer would last another six months but that is not going to happen. I’m getting in what I can get a now.”

This Labor Day some locals are looking for the catch of the day. Mark Vitola said, “I already did a little fishing. now I’m going to sit in the sun for a little while and then a family picnic.”

Alex Blifford said, “I like to try to write out summer as long as I possibly can.” Locals are squeezing in summer activities like swimming and kayaking before the summer is officially gone. “I really enjoy the beach and the sun and it’s nice. It’s local there are not too many people out here so it is quiet,” said Blifford.

“September is the best month down here. It is not crowded and it usually stays this way until the beginning of October,” said Vitola. Locals say staying local is a perfect way to spend Labor Day. “We love New Haven. There is always something to do. We like Lighthouse Point Park because we got married here last July,” said Deena Nicol.
