NORWICH, Conn. (WTNH) — Police say what started out as a routine traffic stop on North Thames Street turned into a gun and drug arrest yesterday morning.

Officers say they stopped 30-year-old Christopher Arsenault of Norwich for not stopping at a stop sign just after 9 o’clock.  Officers found a loaded .45 caliber handgun without a permit as well as Oxycodone with no prescription.  During the investigation, they also discovered Arsenault was a previously convicted felon.

Arsenault was held on a $100,000 dollar bond.  He’s scheduled to appear at Norwich Superior Court tomorrow.
