Fire breaks out in vacant Bridgeport building

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. (WTNH) — Bridgeport firefighters put out a fire at a vacant building on Hollister Avenue early Saturday morning.

Firefighters say they received a call around 2:45 a.m. Saturday reporting smoke in the area of Hollister and Stratford Avenue. When firefighters arrived, the found a two-and-a-half story vacant, wood building with heavy fire burning on the second and third floors.

Firefighters had the blaze under control in about a half an hour. Officials are investigating to figure out what started the fire.
