Officers injured after police chase in Naugatuck

NAUGATUCK, Conn. (WTNH) —  Two Naugatuck police officers were injured Friday night while trying to pull over a woman driving under the influence.

Police say they were notified at about 7 p.m. about a woman driving around town who was potentially under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

Officers located the woman driving a red Lexus onto Salem Bridge on Maple Street, who was later identified as Misha Flores, 27 of Waterbury.

The officer tried to pull Flores over after watching her cross the center median and almost crash into another car. Flores continued to drive erratically along multiple roads by swerving in and out of her lane.

The vehicle eventually stopped at the intersection of Maple Street, where an officer tried to approach the vehicle. However, Flores quickly accelerated and ran over the officer’s foot.

Police continued to chase Flores onto Church Street, where she almost struck another vehicle and began traveling in the opposite direction. She then crashed into another Naugatuck police car responding to the incident.

Both officers were treated for minor injuries on the scene.

Flores was arrested and charged with operating under the influence, engaging police in pursuit, two counts of assault on an officer, and multiple motor vehicle violations.
