Water main break closes Silas Deane Highway in Rocky Hill

ROCKY HILL, Conn. (WTNH) – A section of the Silas Deane Highway in Rocky Hill is closed due to a water main break that is also impacting nearby restaurants, hotels, and a housing complex.

According to the Metropolitan District Commission, a 12 inch water main in the area of Town Line Road broke and water service in the area was turned off as of 8:50 p.m. The MDC says service is not expected to be restored until 3 a.m. to 5 a.m.

Rocky Hill Police says traffic is being detoured in the area but cannot say where traffic is being rerouted or when they expect the road to be reopened.

MDC says the water main was installed in 1963.
