2,500 gallons of jet fuel spills at Bradley Airport

WINDSOR LOCKS, Conn. (WTNH) – An emergency response team from DEEP spent the day at Bradley International Airport on Thursday, after 2,500 gallons of jet fuel leaked out of a pipe.  Bradley officials say the leak happened at a pressure relief valve.  It happened in a grassy area of the airport that had to be dug up to get the fuel out.

The pipeline that leaked is a half-mile long, running from a bulk storage tank to a loading rack at the airport.  The fuel filled a valve pit, and flowed along a curb for 1/8 mile. Bradley officials are still trying to figure out what caused the valve to fail.
