Calf Born After Large Barn Fire

EAST WINDSOR, Conn. (WTNH) — An East Windsor farm and local fire and police crews today are celebrating the birth of a healthy calf today, all after a very scary night as a barn at a livestock farm was ravaged by fire.

The fire happened just after 6 o’clock last night on Neiderwerfer Road and completely destroyed the livestock barn.  Fire crews from nearby towns responded to the scene and moved all the animals to other farms for the time being.

That’s when police say one of the farm’s cows gave birth to a calf.  Medics gave the calf some extra oxygen since the air quality in the area was poor due to smoke.

Police called the baby cow’s arrival was a “glimmer of hope” after a “tragic evening for the farm community.”
