Connecticut unemployment down in August

WETHERSFIELD, Conn. (WTNH) – Connecticut’s unemployment rate dropped for the month of August. The unemployment rate is 5.3%. According to U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics Connecticut added 3200 jobs during the month.

The numbers show the unemployment rate is down one-tenth of a percentage point from July and down one and one-tenth of a point from August 2014. It is the lowest rate since May of 2008.

Private sector jobs increased by 1,900 jobs which increased the year’s total of new private sector jobs to 31.100. Connecticut now has 1,458,600 private sector jobs.
