NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH) — A new mobile retail shop has popped up in New Haven, offering local artistic creations to fans in the area.
CityLove is a bike-propelled store that makes local artistic creations accessible and affordable for people searching for New Haven-inspired gifts. CityLove is an initiative of Project Storefront, a program that encourages artists and creative entrepreneurs to test out new businesses through different retail spaces.
The bright orange CityLove mobile shop can be found around New Haven starting Thursday.
“What we want to do is to connect local creators with more customers, build awareness of local artistic talent, and create stronger relationships in the community – all in an eco-friendly way,” said Project Storefront Program Director Elinor Slomba.
Handcrafted gifts available at the CityLove shop range from handmade, vintage-style canvas totes, to unique diaries and note cards, to graphic t-shirts.
“We’re fortunate to live a city that supports the arts and creates a growing demand to ‘buy local’ and sustain a community of creative artists,” said Slomba.
Project Storefront is produced by the New Haven Department of Arts, Culture and Tourism and is supported by the Economic Development Corporation of New Haven and New Haven’s Department of Economic Development.
