HARTFORD, Conn. (WTNH) — Police have arrested a man who they say stabbed his nephew to death on Thursday night.
Hartford police were called to 69 James Street just before 10 p.m. Thursday for a report of two people bleeding after a fight. When officers arrived on scene, they found 55-year-old Roberto Perales of New Britain with a severe stab wound to his arm. He was taken to St. Francis Hospital where he was pronounced dead. Police also found 67-year-old Jose Colon of Hartford bleeding from the head. Colon was taken to St. Francis and was treated for non-life-threatening injuries. On Friday, Colon was arrested and charged with murder. He was given a $1 million bond.
The initial investigation found that Perales is the nephew of Colon and the two were temporarily staying together at the James Street apartment. Police say the men had been drinking and began arguing. At some point, police say Colon went into the kitchen, got a knife, and stabbed his nephew in the arm. According to police, Perales was then able to get the knife and stabbed Colon. A witness called police.
Hartford police say they are still investigating.
