One dead, eight hospitalized after crash in New Haven

NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH) — One person is dead and eight others are injured after a three-car crash in New Haven Friday night.

The crash happened at the intersection of Howard Avenue and South Frontage Road shortly before 10 p.m. Police say that the three cars involved in the crash were a Volkswagen, a Mercedes Benz, and a Honda CRV carrying six people including the deceased.

Two children, a toddler, and a 12-year old boy were passengers in the CRV. The 12-year-old is in critical condition at Yale-New Haven Hospital, while the ages and the conditions of the others are still unknown.

Police have not yet determined the cause of the crash. Investigators are continuing to review surveillance videos and collect evidence.
