Drone safety at airports

(WTNH) — The issue of drones being near aircrafts is being addressed by the Federal Aviation Administration.

So far this year the FAA has reported over 700 close calls between drones and aircrafts. In Denver, the issue has become so out of control that officials from the Denver International Airport have met with the FAA and have spoken about the potential risks to passengers. Drones near the Denver airfield there have almost hit 10 planes.

“Sooner or later…we’re going to lose an airplane due to a collision,” said ABC News Aviation Consultant Steve Ganyard.

There are laws that prohibit any recreational use of a drone within five miles of an airport.
