(WTNH) — This morning’s heavy rain left thousands of people across the state without power.

As of 11:30 a.m., the number of outages went down and there were 837 Eversource customers without power and only two United Illuminating customers without power. Cheshire seems to be experiencing the brunt of the outages, with 220 Eversource customers without power just before noon.

In Madison, a large tree branch fell on some wires earlier today. It didn’t knock out the power for people in the area, but crews had to turn it off while they removed the branch from the wires.

The number of people without power is going down as the day progresses with crews working to restore it.
