National Previvor Day

(WTNH) – The last Wednesday of the month celebrates Previvors – meaning those who survived a predisposition to get ovarian and/or breast cancer.

People who have a mutation of the BRCA gene are at an extremely high risk, sometimes as high as 87% likelihood, of getting ovarian and/or breast cancer.

Kate Berges and her three sisters were tested all tested positive for the mutation.

Facing Our Risk of Cancer Empowered : FORCE is the leading national nonprofit organization devoted to hereditary breast and ovarian cancer. Their mission includes support, education, advocacy, awareness, and research specific to hereditary breast and ovarian cancer. Their programs serve anyone with a BRCA mutation or a family history of cancer.
