HARTFORD, Conn. (WTNH) –A Hartford man was arrested Thursday on gun related charges, according to police.
Police say officers were responding to complaints of trespassing and open street drug dealings in the area of 582 Zion Street. While police were addressing the complaints, officers were investigating 38 year old Mario Santiago, a convicted felon with 29 previous arrests in Hartford.
Police tell News 8 Santiago ran into the building after seeing the officers. Officers ran into the building and saw a firearm fall from his waistband as he ran into the apartment.
Santiago was arrested and taken into custody. Officers recovered a .380 caliber handgun with a magazine. He faces several charges, including theft of a firearm, criminal possession of a firearm, and interfering with police. He is being held on a $450,000 bond.
