East Haven detective accidentally fires gun, hits neighbor’s house


EAST HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH)– East Haven police are investigating an incident where one of their detectives reportedly fired a gun in her home which struck a neighbor’s house.

Lieutenant David Emerman said that “the Department is aware of the incident and is investigating as per Department policy.”

The detective allegedly accidentally fired her weapon while off duty. The bullet then went through the window of a neighbor’s home. That neighbor is not pressing charges and no one was injured.

Police have not released any details regarding the incident other than that it is under investigation.
