Major Meriden Drug Bust

MERIDEN, Conn. (WTNH) — A major bust of illegal cigarettes and tobacco products occurred in Meriden Tuesday.

Police and IRS agents were at the scene of a warehouse on Miller Street and seized a truck load of tobacco products, allegedly brought in from Pennsylvania. Because they were brought in from another state, it means that Connecticut sales tax was not collected.

Chewing tobacco, rolling tobacco, and more than $100,000 in cash were apprehended by authorities.

No word yet on who will be charged for bringing the items into Connecticut.
