NEW LONDON, Conn. (WTNH) — The Board of Directors of the New London Community Meal Center say that a recent mail campaign they launched in order to keep their doors open seems to be working as donations are coming in.
The center was in jeopardy of closing its doors due to financial costs, but today they tell News 8, that the calls and pledges are pouring in. The center serves about 7-thousand people a month, but they only have enough money to stay open for two more months.
Now other organizations and individuals are offering to help. The president of the board says even getting paper donations is helpful because they won’t have to spend money on those items.
