NORWALK, Conn. (AP) — Authorities say an 85-year-old woman is dead after a three-car crash in which the sport utility vehicle she was in plummeted down a 75-foot embankment, landing near the Norwalk River.
State police say Selma Spector, of Darien, was a passenger in the Honda pilot Tuesday when it veered off Route 7. She later died at Norwalk Hospital.
Sixty-six-year-old Vera Manevich was driving. She was treated for a minor injury.
State police say a Honda Civic driven by a Bridgeport man struck the Pilot, which rolled over, went over a guardrail and dropped down the embankment. The Civic then hit a van.
Authorities said Wednesday part of the SUV was wedged in a tree. Firefighters anchored the vehicle to the tree so it wouldn’t move while they extracted the women.
