Showers Friday; Dry Columbus Day Weekend

Here are your Thursday evening Connecticut Weather headlines from Storm Team 8 Senior Meteorologist Fred Campagna:

  • 83% of Connecticut remains in a moderate drought. It is now a long-term drought because it’s lasted more than 6 months.
  • Clouds will increase after midnight. Lows Friday morning will be in the low 50s – not too cool for early October.
  • Friday looks mostly cloudy with a slight chance of a shower in the morning, and a better chance of showers after 3 pm.
  • It will be breezy and mild on Friday in spite of the clouds. Highs will be in the low 70s.
  • A rumble of thunder is possible Friday evening as a cold front passes. Scattered showers are likely in the evening. The rain threat ends by midnight.
  • Skies will clear by early Saturday morning. Lows will be in the 40s.
  • Saturday afternoon looks mostly sunny and seasonably cool. Highs will be in the low 60s.
  • Patchy frost is possible inland early Sunday morning. The best chance of frost is in the northwest hills. Lows will range from the mid to upper 30s inland to near 40 at the Shoreline. It will be the coolest morning of the season so far.
  • It will warm up pretty nicely on Sunday afternoon. Look for highs in the mid to upper 60s with mostly sunny skies.
  • Columbus Day will be beautiful, with plenty of sunshine, and highs in the low 70s.
  • Stray showers are possible on Tuesday. Highs will be near 70.
