Cocaine disguised as candy seized at NY airport

JAMAICA, NY (WTNH) – A man from Mexico has been arrested after flying into a New York airport with what appeared to be candy but turned out to be cocaine.

According to the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, Eusebio Jimenez Manjarrez checked in with CPB Officers upon arriving at JFK Airport. Officer inspected his belongings and discovered a bag of candy containing something wrapped in tape. At that time he was taken to a search room and the item examined and found to be a white powder that tested positive for cocaine. Four bags of candy containing approximately 6 pounds of cocaine with an estimated street of approximately $97,000 was seized.

Manjarrez is facing narcotics smuggling charges including importation of a controlled substance.
