First Lady to visit Conn. to christen new submarine

GROTON, Conn. (WTNH) — First Lady Michelle Obama will be in Connecticut on Saturday to christen a new submarine in Groton.

‘The Illinois’ is the U.S. Navy’s newest and most advanced nuclear attack submarine. It is named in honor of Mrs. Obama’s home state

The ceremony is scheduled to begin at 11:00 Saturday morning.

Mrs. Obama will make some remarks and then christen the submarine by breaking a bottle of sparkling wine on its hull.
