K-9 Nero receives bullet proof vest

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. (WTNH) — One of Connecticut’s finest is a little safer after receiving body armor.

Nero is a 3-year-old patrol dog for the Connecticut State Police in Bridgeport with his partner Trooper Michael Beauton. A non-profit organization Vested Interest in Canines, Incorporated donated the bullet and stab proof vest.

The suggested donation to provide one of these vests for a K-9 is $1,050. The organization has provided more than 1,600 protective vests in 49 states. All vests are custom-made by Armor Express in Michigan.
