Child seriously injured after being hit by car in East Hartford

EAST HARTFORD, Conn. (WTNH)– A child suffered serious injuries after being struck by a car in East Hartford Sunday morning.

Police say the child was hit in the area of 121 Sawka Drive around 8:52 a.m. when a car was pulling out of a driveway. The victim was taken to Hartford Hospital for treatment of very serious injuries. Their condition is unknown at this time.

Police say the driver remained on scene and was coopering with the investigation. There is no word on the identity of the child or the driver.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
