Newtown father risks injury to children

NEWTOWN, Conn. (WTNH) — Glen White of Newtown was arrested in Willimantic Saturday evening after bringing his two children to a bar.

Police say Glen White was asked to leave the bar due to drunkenness. His two children, 8 and 11 years old, had been with him throughout his visit, and he brought them with him as he attempted to drive home. Seeing this, a witness called police.

Upon arriving at roughly 2 a.m., police say White had already exited his vehicle, and was heading towards a relative’s house in neighboring Columbia. Police tell us that the two children were “grossly underdressed” for the late night temperature, which was roughly 35 degrees Fahrenheit.

White was arrested and is held on a $5,000 cash bond at Willimantic Police Headquarters. He is set to appear at Danielson Superior Court Tuesday. The Connecticut Department of Children and Families is attending to the welfare of both children in light of this incident.
