East Hartford child dies after being hit by car

EAST HARTFORD, Conn. (WTNH) — A child has died after being struck by a car in East Hartford on Sunday.

According to East Hartford Police, the child, who is not being identified, was hit near 121 Sawka Drive just before 9 a.m. Sunday. Police say the driver stopped. The child, who lived at 125 Sawka Drive, had been carried into their home before emergency crews arrived on scene and then was taken to Hartford Hospital by ambulance with serious injuries and pronounced dead at 9:34 a.m.

Police say the driver is cooperating and the investigation is on going.
