Groton woman steals from disabled father; will serve 2 years in jail

GROTON, Conn. (WTNH) — A Groton woman has been sentenced to serve two years in prison after she stole more than $160,000 from her disabled father.

39-year-old Lisa Farnum was convicted of first-degree larceny. Prosecutors say that Farnum stole the money intended to be used to care for her father, who has been suffering from a traumatic brain injury for more than 20 years.

Farnum had been appointed to handle her father’s financial affairs. She used that money to fund her own personal expenses and paid for personal trips, among other items.

Farnum was sentenced to ten years in prison, execution suspended after two years served. She will then serve five years probation.
