Uncasville woman faces larceny, fraud charges

UNCASVILLE, Conn. (WTNH) — Prosecutors say an Uncasville woman allegedly collected nearly $9,000 in illegal unemployment compensation benefits.

According to the arrest warrant affidavit, 59-year-old Gwen E. Hatt fraudulently collected approximately $8,863 in unemployment benefits from March 2012 through March 2013 by under-reporting her wages to qualify for benefits. Her employer protested that she was working full-time when it was notified that it would be subject to financial charges because she was receiving benefits.

Hatt was released on a $10,000 non-surety bond and is scheduled to appear in New Britain Superior Court on October 16.
