Cheshire man arrested in Walmart robbery, assaulting officers

WALLINGFORD, Conn. (WTNH) —  A man from Cheshire is accused of robbing a Walmart Supercenter in Wallingford and assaulting officers.

26-year-old Shane O’Reilly was arrested after that incident on North Colony Road Wednesday night. Police say he punched a store worker who tried to stop him from stealing a pair of work boots that costs $74.98. The employee suffered minor injuries.

Officers took him into custody after a brief struggle. O’Reilly is facing several charges including assault of a police officer. He is being held on a $50,000 bond.

O’Reilly was previously arrested for shoplifting at the same Walmart in December 2012
