BRIDGEPORT, Conn. (WTNH) — Bridgeport Police are investigating a shooting that occurred around noon Thursday just outside the area of Bridgeport mayoral candidate Joe Ganim’s campaign headquarters.
Police spokesperson Kevin Coughlin says dispatch received a call regarding shots being fired near the corner of Stratford Ave and Central Ave. A police officer patrolling the area heard the shots and arrived on scene shortly after. Witnesses reported that eight to ten shots were fired from a vehicle that was last seen traveling south down Central Ave towards Orange St.
A blue 4-dour sedan was shot one time and a window of the vehicle was shattered. No injuries were reported.
Detectives are actively investigating, and anyone with information regarding the shooting is asked to contact the Bridgeport Police Department.
At this time, police have not told News 8 if this shooting involved Ganim’s campaign.
