Bridgeport woman dies in car collision

TRUMBULL, Conn. (WTNH) — Police say an accident involving two cars Saturday at roughly 9 a.m. resulted in the death of one of the drivers, a 62 year-old woman from Bridgeport.

Police have identified the victim as Phek Ing. Witnesses told police that she was exiting Route 8 southbound onto Nichols Avenue when her vehicle was struck in the drivers door by another car traveling northbound on Nichols Avenue.

Lieutenant Scinto tells News 8 that Ing and the driver of the other car,  42-year old Walter Mayorga, also of Bridgeport, had to extricated by emergency crews. Ing was taken to St. Vincent’s Hospital where she later died from her injuries. Mayorga and his 13-year-old son, who was a passenger in his car, were taken to Bridgeport Hospital and treated for minor injuries.

Crews were on the scene for around six hours following the collision, and the investigation is ongoing. No charges have been filed at this time.
