Man who died after falling from West Rock cliff identified

NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH) — The man who fell to his death at West Rock Ridge State Park in New Haven has been identified.

26-year-old Robert Anastasio of Hamden fell from the cliff around 5:30 Sunday evening. DEEP Environmental Conservation (EnCon) Police and the New Haven Police and Fire Departments responded to the scene. Anastasio’s body was discovered at the bottom of the cliff, which made it difficult for crews to retrieve it Sunday night forcing the recovery operation to resume on Monday morning.

The cause of Anastasio’s fall is unknown at this time. The incident remains under investigation.
