FAIRFIELD, Conn. (AP) — Police are investigating a report that more than $100,000 worth of jewelry was stolen from a Fairfield home last weekend.
The Connecticut Post reports that the homeowner reported the break-in Saturday after she had been away from the house for less than an hour. The lock on a basement sliding door had been broken to gain entry.
Several diamond rings, one with a three-carat diamond, diamond earrings and two Movado watches were among the missing items. The victim reported that $3,700 in cash was also taken.
The homeowner said she discovered the break-in when she returned home from the mall to let in her son, who had forgotten his keys.
