Rain, Gusty Winds Wednesday PM

Here are your Monday Evening Connecticut weather headlines from StormTeam8 Senior Meteorologist Fred Campagna:

  • Clouds will increase Tuesday night. It will likely stay dry through the morning commute. Lows will range from the upper 30s inland to low 40s near the Shoreline. The temperature may rise a few degrees by dawn as the wind kicks in near the Shoreline.
  • Showers will develop from west to east on Wednesday. By noon, the best chance of steady rain is in Fairfield, New Haven and Litchfield Counties. The rain will continue spreading east during the afternoon, and by the evening commute widespread rain is likely. Heavier downpours are possible late in the day. The evening commute will be soggy, especially west of I-91.
  • The temperature will climb into the 60s by Wednesday afternoon.
  • Winds will increase to 10-20 mph by midday, and peak gusts around 40 mph are possible late in the day and/or during the evening.
  • The threat of strong winds and heavy rain diminishes after 4 am on Thursday. It will stay mild with temps in the 60s Wednesday night.
  • Thursday looks mostly cloudy, but relatively warm. A stray shower cannot be ruled out. Highs will be in the low 70s.
  • Cooler weather arrives on Friday. Highs will be in the mid to upper 50s with a fair dose of sunshine.
  • The weather looks great for Halloween. Highs will be in the mid to upper 50s with mostly sunny skies. Trick or treat temperatures will be in the mid 40s to low 50s – just about normal.
  • There will be more clouds around on Sunday. A couple of showers are possible, but most will likely stay dry. Highs will be in the upper 50s to low 60s.
  • The outlook for the first few days of next week includes mainly dry and seasonably warm weather. Highs will be near 60 or in the low 60s Monday through Wednesday. It will not be too cold at night, with lows in the mid 30s to low 40s.
