NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH) — New Haven Mayor Toni Harp has been elected to serve her second term in office.
Harp, the 50th Mayor of the Elm City, says she has three priorities for her second term.
1. Public safety.
“Going out to the communities, identifying young people, in particular, who are likely to be the ones to get in trouble, reengaging them in the community, getting them involved in positive and productive activities before school and after school and on the weekends,” said Harp.
2. Helping New Haven schools continue to improve.
“I think the biggest challenge that we have now in urban areas across America and certainly here in New Haven is making sure that we educate children who live in our urban areas, so they can participate in our knowledge based economy,” said Harp.
3. Keep pushing growth in the city’s economy,
“Making sure that the jobs that exist here in New Haven are available to New Haven residents, and actually growing our economic base,” said Harp.
