Police were called to the area of Boston Avenue and St Michaels Avenue Thursday morning for a complaint of “erratic operation.” Police say Bryce Laister hit a parked vehicle and tried to drive away, but had blown out the front right tire. Police saw Laister driving erratically and tried to stop him.

Laister swerved into oncoming traffic on Surf Avenue. A car trying to avoid Laister swerved out of the way and ended up crashing into a Stratford police SUV. Laister then tried to run away from the scene on foot, but was stopped by a bystander.

The police vehicle was heavily damaged in the crash and Surf Avenue was shut down for approximately six hours.

Police say this accident is still under investigation.
