Study ranks Bridgeport and Hartford among USA’s richest areas

NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH) – A new study by Bloomberg Business puts two Connecticut metropolitan areas among the richest in America.  Bloomberg’s analysis of the U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis data for the 100 largest metropolitan areas in the country puts the Bridgeport area at #2 in the country, and Hartford at #13.  The study says the gross metropolitan product per resident in the Bridgeport area in 2014 was $94,349.  In Hartford that number was $64,946.

Bloomberg ranked the 100 biggest metropolitan statistical areas in the U.S. according to their gross metropolitan product per resident from 2008 to 2014, calculated with data from the U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis and the U.S. Census Bureau.
