Unemployment Fraud Arrest

Middletown, Conn. (WTNH)  – Police have arrested and charged a man with illegally collecting almost $13,000 in Unemployment Compensation benefits.

Police say 36-year-old Michael D. Pasquale of Congdon Street was investigated after complaints by the Connecticut Department of Labor. Investigators for the Unemployment Compensation Fraud Unit Unit in the Office of the Chief State’s Attorney say that Pasquale collected $12,784 in unemployment benefits.  Investigators say he collected the money between April 2013 and November 2013 when he actually had a job at a Killingworth heating and cooling business.

Pasquale is now facing one count of Larceny in the first degree as well as Unemployment Compensation Fraud..  The Class B felony can carry anywhere from one to twenty years in prison and/or up to a $15,000 fine. He faces those charges in New Britain Superior Court on November 15th.
