Chaplin woman charged with DUI after crashing into stacks of milk crates

WILLIMANTIC, Conn. (WTNH) — A Chaplin woman has been arrested after a DUI crash in Willimantic on Saturday.

Police say 37-year-old Anita Rosa Shepherd of Chaplin crashed into a row of stacked milk crates outside of the Mobil gas station just after 2:00 Saturday afternoon.

After the crash, the store clerk called police, went outside and took the keys out of Shepherd’s car while waiting for officers to arrive.

Shepherd was arrested and charged with operating under the influence. She was released on a $2,500 bond and is due in court on November 17.

Police say there was no structural damage to the gas station building and there were no injuries. Police say there was no milk in the milk crates.
