BRIDGEPORT, Conn. (WTNH) — The Bridgeport Fire Department battled blazing flames at a condo complex on Alanson Road Sunday night, leaving four adults and three children displaced.
At 7:28 p.m., Bridgeport Fire was dispatched to two working fires simultaneously, a little over a mile apart. One of these, at an apartment complex at 80 Granfield Avenue, was quickly extinguished. Crews then moved to join the effort at 73 Alanson Road.
Upon the first crew’s arrival at the Alanson Road complex, firefighters worked to evacuate the two-story structure. An hour and 20 minutes later, around 8:50 p.m., the fire was under control. Bridgeport firefighters tell News 8 they “worked tirelessly” to contain the flames.
The American Red Cross (ARC) was called in to assist those displaced in finding shelter and as Stefanie Arcangelo, the ARC’s Chief Communications Officer, tells News 8, in “meeting their immediate needs.”
The cause of the fire is still under investigation, and the Bridgeport Fire Department encourages those with any relevant information to contact them at (203) 357-2042.
