New Haven Public Schools names ‘Teacher of the Year’

NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH) — Congratulations are in order to the new Teacher of the Year for New Haven Public Schools.

Stephanie White is a discovery room teacher at the Quinnipiac STEM Magnet School, and is also a curriculum facilitator. She works with teachers in each grade level to develop and implement science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.

“I congratulate Ms. White and all of the teachers who inspire their students and lead within their schools. Ms. White epitomizes the dedication, talent and leadership needed to make the students feel valued and help them rise to success. Through her work as the Discovery Room Teacher and a Curriculum Facilitator in the Professional Educator Program, she has engaged staff and students and expanded the STEM work being done across the District and I am proud she is a New Haven Public School educator,” said Garth Harries, Superintendent of Schools.

Discover Video in Wallingford awarded White $56,000 to buy equipment that will let the school stream videos of students work through smart phones and tablets so families can engage in their child’s learning.
