Woman and dog struck by car in Wallingford

WALLINGFORD, Conn. (WTNH) — Wallingford Police tell News 8 that an elderly woman and a dog were hit by a car on North Turnpike Road around 5:00 p.m. Monday.

Police say the vehicle that struck the woman and the dog fled the scene, but later returned. The woman has been taken to Yale-New Haven Hospital for serious injuries. The dog died at the scene.

Police are currently investigating the area where the woman was struck for more information.
