STRATFORD, Conn. (WTNH) — A New York man was arrested at the Vicki Soto 5k Charity Run in Stratford on Saturday.

Stratford police say that while at the event, 32-year-old Matthew Mills of Brooklyn, N.Y. went up to some family members and said the Sandy Hook Elementary School shootings were staged and part of a conspiracy.

As officers approached Mills, he tried to run away, but was stopped and arrested.

Mills was charged with breach of peace and interfering with an officer. He posted a $10,000 bond and is due in court on November 17.
