Hamden Police: 8 people hospitalized after 4-car crash

HAMDEN, Conn. (WTNH) — Police say eight people, including three children, were hospitalized after a four-car crash in Hamden on Wednesday night.

Police were called to the area of 2165 Dixwell Avenue at 8:45 p.m. Wednesday for a report of a multi-vehicle crash. Officers determined that a Ford Escape, being driven by 39-year-old Amy Metcalfe of Hamden, sped through a red light.

Metcalfe’s vehicle struck three additional cars in the area. Police say eight individuals, five adults and three children, were injured in the crash. None of their injuries are considered life threatening.

Dixwell Avenue was closed between Skiff Street and Connelly Parkway for approximately three and a half hours.

Hamden police are still investigating and are asking anyone with information on the crash to call (203)230-4000.
