Hartford man and cat saved from fire

HARTFORD, Conn. (WTNH) — A Hartford man is in the hospital recovering after a fire started at his apartment complex.

Firefighters were able to pull the man and his cat out of the burning building at 47 Willard Street around 6:00 p.m. Tuesday night. They found them on the second floor apartment. Firefighters had to put an oxygen mask on the cat.

He was taken to Bridgeport Hospital’s burn unit and is listed in critical condition. Police are not releasing the victim’s name. Four other families who lived in that building are out of a home and are staying with family.
