Police find teen robbers in grandma’s house

NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH)  –  Two teens who robbed another teen in New Haven of a cell phone and “Nike Jordan” sneakers were found hiding in the home of  the 79 year old grandmother of one of the suspects.

Police say on November 9th at 9:14 a.m. the two suspects on bicycles and wearing masks indicated they had a weapon and robbed a 14 year old who was waiting for a bus and then fled.

Police were able to track the victim’s cell phone to an address on Wintergreen Avenue in Hamden.  The 79 year old woman who lived there allowed officers into the home and told them her grandson stayed there at times but but not there now but the phones signal indicated it was inside the home.  Upon searching the home the suspects were found hiding in a closet.  Police found numerous cell phones in the home along with the items stolen from the 14 year old.

Police say the juvenile suspects have a history of robberies and burglaries and have been charged with first degree robbery.
