Shrimp thief nabbed

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. (WTNH) — Police intervened in a robbery involving five bags of seafood stuffed into the offender’s sweatsuit.

Officers of the Bridgeport Police Department were dispatched to the Food Bazaar at 500 Sylvan Avenue following a shoplifting complaint on Monday.

Upon arrival, officers discovered Carlos Muniz, 37, sitting on the floor next to the store manager. Muniz was handcuffed and detained.

Reviewing surveillance footage, police determined that Muniz had attempted to conceal five bags of shrimp under his sweatshirt and sweatpants. All of the merchandise was recovered.
