(WTNH) — Most of the leaves are off the trees, but if you have a backyard, you now have to worry about cleaning it all up. Those costs can add up, but there are few things you should keep in mind to save you time and money.

Landscapers make cleaning up leaves look easy, but the average homeowner can easily be overwhelmed, some landscapers we talked too have some tips to help you get the job done right.

Tip 1: Don’t do it all in one day: Take your time to clean up your yard.
Tip 2: Clean your gutters before starting the lawn: “You don’t wanna have your lawn clean and then the gutter guy comes and blows everything off and now you’re lawn is dirty,” says one landscaper.
Tip 3: Make sure you have the right equipment; rakes, shovels, a leaf blower, and bags or tarps.
Tip 4: Work when the lawn and leaves are dry.

It’s a lot of work to clean up a yard, and in case you just want to call a professional, we’ve got your back with landscaping companies that will remove your leaves for a cost.

Milford Quality Landscaping says it usually takes two hours for a three person crew to clean a half acre lot. Three people in New Haven will run you about $142 for an hour of work. Don’t forget the haul away fees. Those are extra.
