IRS Scam Warning

COVENTRY, Conn. (WTNH) – Don’t fall for it if you get a phone call from the IRS. Coventry police say they’ve gotten multiple phone calls from people saying scammers are calling them, claiming to be from the IRS. The phony callers say you’ve underpaid your taxes and of course owe money. They reportidly go on to say they’ll come to your home to collect the money or even file a law suit against you.

Police want to make sure word gets out this is a scam. Never wire money to someone you don’t know personally. And remember the IRS will not call you. If they need to reach you, the IRS will send you a letter so that you can call them.
